If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then how much is
30 pictures per second worth? Video has become the most
powerful medium of today’s generation. It is also a
great opportunity for an excellent technical career.
From CNN to the Discovery Channel, video combines the
best of art with the best of technical execution. Video
blends photography, language arts, graphic design, journalism,
and creative writing, all into one package. It also
offers high-paying jobs for those interested in the
finer technical points of video editing and production.
The other half of video is audio. You have probably
seen pictures of a professional video crew, where someone
wears a pair of headphones, and another member carries
a stick with a microphone at the end. They are capturing
audio tracks onto a digital audio tape (DAT) machine.
During the editing phase, the audio track is cleaned
up and then laid back down in sync with the video track.
All of this requires a very technical application of
editing and sound concepts.
